catch. When grabbed by Zurich player Loris Benito, the marten bit his finger, sending Benito to the locker room for repairs and the chase resumed. FCZ goaltender David Da Costa finally grabbed the intruder, his goalkeeping gloves providing some protection.
Following the sideshow FC Zurich went on to a 4-0 victory. Interviewed after the game Benito said, “We already have the lion as a mascot, but it may well be that the marten luck has brought us.” As for his injury, Benito said “In hindsight, it was obviously foolish of me [to try and catch it.] Who knows what diseases that animal could have? All I wanted was to play the match and now I simply want to trust my immune system.”
