Pub Review: Bubba Ray’s in Halifax

HALIFAX, NS. — When it comes to sports pubs in Halifax, there is none that comes close to reaching the level of Bubba Ray’s in delivering a great viewing experience. Located on bustling Spring Garden Road, it has become a magnet for sports fans to enjoy the game and eat some great food. 
Boasting more than 60 televisions, including several large-screen LCD screens, there are always numerous games on display. If you want your game on TV, the staff is always very friendly and will do what they can to accommodate your request. No matter where you are sitting, in Crosby town where the walls are adorned with numerous photos and jersey of Halifax’s favourite son or in the more quiet lounge area, you will always have a great sight line to see the game.

Bubba Ray’s is famous for one thing above all else: chicken wings. There are nearly 70 different flavours available to choose from. If you like flavour over heat, there are numerous options that will leave your taste buds bursting. If you like a challenge, there are the Death flavoured wings, which require you to sign a waiver before you get them delivered. The rest of the food is standard pub fare, and all of it is very good: burgers, appys, anything you’d expect from a sports bar.

If you’re there for the whole game, you can check out their memorabilia store during the intermission. There’s a good selection of hockey cards, jerseys, and signed photos available for sale. Just make sure to clean your hands from the saucy wings first before you touch anything!

All in all, Bubba Ray’s is a supreme experience for a sports fan looking to watch the game at a bar. Make sure to get there early for a big event because it is hugely popular. Don’t be afraid to cheer for your team when they score as you’ll only heighten the experience and probably make friends with the guys at the table beside you!
