Pub Review: Jack Astor’s in Toronto at Yonge & Bloor
by Jamie Shalley – Special to HockeyPub.com
Jamie has been in radio and television broadcasting for nearly two decades. He began his career as a television reporter and anchor in his hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Jamie was a host and reporter for the TEAM Sports Radio Network, The Score and FAN 590 Sports Radio in Toronto. He joined XM (NHL Network Radio) in 2005, likes to play guitar (badly) and one day hopes to own a Ferrari.
TORONTO, ON — With multiple locations across Canada, Jack Astor’s is always a good place to visit when it comes to watching sporting events. Every location has a bit of a different look, but all are well suited to catching a game, with flat screens within view from any seating location in the lounge.
Bar seating offers a multitude of screens in your field of view for catching multiple games at once. The Yonge and Bloor location boasts a wall of flat screens behind the bar. Getting the audio feed of a game is sometimes a challenge, as some locations like to have music playing rather than a game broadcast. The bigger the game, the better your chances.
The staff is always fun-loving and friendly. The menu includes appetitizers, soups, salads, steak, pizza, burgers (the Smoky Jack’s burger is heavenly), stir fry, and seafood, along with a kids menu. A visit to Jack’s should ALWAYS include the Garlic Pan Bread.
The bar and beer menu is extensive. The draft taps usually include several Ontario microbrews.
You can find Jack Astor’s Yonge & Bloor at 2 Bloor Street East, Toronto, Ontario, M4W 1A8. You can reach them at 416.923.1555 or visit their website JackAstors.com
