► Penguins News

  • Pittsburgh Penguins starting goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury will miss 1-2 weeks with a concussion.
  • Fleury underwent protocol on Tuesday and did not play against the Bruins on Wednesday night. If Fleury misses an extended period of time due to a concussion, it will be a huge loss for the team as they are struggling at the moment.
  • Also injured for the Pens is forward Beau Bennett. Bennett is reported to be out for 4-6 weeks after being hit into the boards by Capitals forward T.J. Oshie late in the first period on Monday night.
  • Also during Monday night’s game new head coach Mike Sullivan coached his first game behind the Penguins bench. The results did not turn out better as Pittsburgh lost 4-1 to the Washington Capitals.
  • Blueline help is on its way for the Penguins as well. Earlier in the week they acquired Trevor Daley from the Blackhawks in exchange for fellow denfensemen Rob Scuderi.
  • Daley can be a key piece on the blueline as we’ve seen in the past as he struggled to be a top-4 defenceman for Chicago this season after coming over in the summer as part of the Patrick Sharp trade.

► Coyotes News

  • Arizona has acquired forward Christian Thomas from the Montreal Canadiens for forward Lucas Lessio.
  • Thomas has had some brief stints with the Habs over his career in Montreal as Lessio has put up some good numbers in the minors. This could benefit both teams.
  • Bad news for Arizona as Goaltender Mike Smith will be out 8-10 week after having surgery to repair his core muscle.
  • Anders Lindback at the moment will take over the starting role. Louis Domingue will be the backup for the time being. A trade could potentially be coming.

  • Toronto has officially loaned forward William Nylander to Team Sweden for the World Juniors.
  • The son of former NHLer Michael Nylander will look to be play a big role for team Sweden. Nylander had three goals and 10 points in seven games for the Swedish junior team last year.

► Kane’s point streak over

  • Patrick Kane’s historic point streak has finally come to an end. After earning points in 26 straight games he and his Chicago Blackhawk teammates were held off the scoresheet by the Colorado Avalanche in Tuesday nights 3-0 loss.

► Sharks finally win

  • On Tuesday night in Montreal the San Jose Sharks snapped a 6-game losing skid against the Habs winning by a score of 3-1. You can read a full recap here.

► Alberta teams heating up

  • The Edmonton Oilers were on a roll winning six in a row for the first time since 2011. They will look to create a new one as the New York Rangers decided to put an end to it. The loss does not take away their recent success. this is a team that is starting to get their act together.
  • The Calgary Flames on the other hand have a six game win streak of their own going on. They look to stay hot against the league leading Dallas Stars in Dallas.
