Corey Perry Suspended 4 Games for Hit on Jason Zucker [VIDEO]
The Ducks winger lay motionless on the ice for several minutes and then was helped to the dressing room. Zucker took a light skate at the Xcel Energy Center on Wednesday morning and is listed day-to-day with an upper body injury.
Perry described the contact this way, “I was committed to the hit. I didn’t change my path or direction. I was committed and I tried to let up. It’s hard because it happened so fast. It’s unfortunate. I don’t go out there trying to hurt guys. That’s not me as a person.”
On Wednesday afternoon, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety Announced a four game suspension for Perry. His supplementary discipline also carries a hefty financial penalty costing him $115,135.12 in salary. Back in 2009, Perry was suspended four games for elbowing Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux.
